About WaveBot

WaveBot is the web crawler operated by Tidal RevOps for our Wave marketing-intelligence platform. This page explains who it is, why it may visit your website, exactly what it does and does not collect, and how to block it.

WaveBot identifies itself with this User-Agent:

WaveBot/1.0 (+https://tidalrevops.com/bot)

Why WaveBot may visit your site

When one of our customers is preparing to reach out to your company, Wave reads your public website to understand what your business does and the topics and challenges you talk about. That helps our customer show up with a more relevant, less generic message — and skip you entirely if you're not a fit.

WaveBot only visits when a Tidal RevOps customer specifically asks Wave to research your company. It is not a continuous, internet-wide crawler and it does not build a general index of the web.

How to block WaveBot

Add the following to your site's robots.txt. WaveBot re-reads robots.txt on every visit and will stop crawling your site right away:

User-agent: WaveBot
Disallow: /

You can also block the WaveBot User-Agent at your CDN, WAF, or firewall. Either method stops it completely.

Questions or requests

Want us to stop crawling your site, or have a question about what WaveBot accessed? Email eric@tidalrevops.com and we'll take care of it. Adding the robots.txt rule above also stops WaveBot on its own.
